AGI Legal Partners Elsie Hakim, Kevin Sidharta, Giffy Pardede, and Aris Budi Prasetiyo contributed the Indonesia chapter to Global Legal Insights: Fintech 2026, published by Global Legal Group.

Indonesia’s FinTech sector continues to develop as a more integrated and more closely supervised part of the national financial system. Digital payments, online lending, wealth technology, insurance technology, and other technology-enabled financial services remain important drivers of financial inclusion, efficiency, and innovation. At the same time, the regulatory landscape has become more structured and increasingly risk-based, with stronger emphasis on governance, licensing, consumer protection, operational resilience, data governance, anti-money laundering compliance, and market conduct.

The chapter provides an overview of the FinTech landscape in Indonesia, covering the main FinTech-related regulations and restrictions, key technologies affecting traditional financial services markets, and the use of supervision, regulation, and insurance technology.
