Myanmar adopts 73 new national standards across multiple sectors
29 October 2025
On 2 September 2025, the National Standards Council formally adopted 73 new Myanmar Standards (“MMS”) under Notification No. 075/2025, issued pursuant to section 33(b) of the Law on Standardisation.
The MMS span a wide variety of sectors including electrical and photovoltaic systems, food safety and agriculture, industrial chemicals and materials, construction and building materials, healthcare, and election technology. Their focus generally relates to safety, performance, and quality in the identified sectors.
Companies operating in these areas are expected to align their production, testing, and quality-control systems with the new MMS in order to ensure regulatory compliance, ensure safety, and maintain market credibility.
