The two-year transitional period for compliance with Indonesia’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 27/2022 (“PDP Law”) concluded on 17 October 2024. The PDP Law seeks to protect personal data at every stage of processing and to ensure the constitutional rights of personal data subjects, that is, individuals to whom the personal data is attached.

This article provides an overview of Indonesia’s data protection regime and this new groundbreaking regulation.
